English-taught Master’s Program in Frankfurt am Main

Urban Agglomerations is an international and interdisciplinary 2-year full-time master’s program in sustainable urban development completely taught in English. With a focus on scientific research and a broad and comprehensive approach to cities around the world, it leads to the international academic degree Master of Science (M.Sc.) as a basis for subsequent PhD studies.
By integrating perspectives from students from all over the world, Urban Agglomerations opens a window to the diverse world of cities and the issues facing them. It is provided by the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences, located in the multicultural city of Frankfurt am Main, in cooperation with more than 20 renowned international partner universities for a compulsory exchange course in the third semester.

The specific study contents provide students with a broad understanding and basic knowledge of large cities and urban agglomerations.

  • Enhance your skills and knowledge to approach and solve complex urban problems in interdisciplinary teams.
  • Prepare for your future role as a decision-maker in the public or private sector, in urban authorities, development agencies, freelance consulting firms, research institutes or international institutions.
  • Build up intercultural sensibility and competencies studying one semester abroad and being exposed to teaching and planning environments of different cultures and contexts.
  • Take on this international study program to develop solutions towards today’s pressing challenges related to sustainability, urbanization, climate change and the built environment.

Admission requirements:
First academic degree in architecture, civil engineering, urban and regional planning or other planning-related disciplines, one year of professional experience, English language ability
